It only takes a subtle change in the wording of a phrase to change its intended meaning. In the same way that gender terms have been purposely altered in the Bible by modern redactors, certain phrases are being altered by them, as well. They are doing these things not because these things had not been correctly interpreted, but are doing it to serve their own agenda.
In placing "I did not" in front of immediately rather than after it, allows for the argument that Paul could have conferred with others before going to Arabia.
American Standard Bible
New American Standard Bible:
, I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went away to Arabia, and returned once more to Damascus.
Old American Standard Bible:
; straightway I conferred not with flesh and blood: 17 neither went I up to Jerusalem to them that were apostles before me: but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned unto Damascus.
New King James:
, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, 17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.
Old King James:
